The goal of the Roseville Parks and Recreation Swim Team is the development of lifelong positive attitudes and skills through the sport of competitive swimming.
The program stresses safety, fun, individual skill development, goal setting and achievement, social development, fitness, and recreational competition.
All individuals in the league, both as spectator or participant, should be guided by the following goal:
Within the parameters of the team and league, an individual is encouraged to grow to his or her full potential.
If an individual champion or winning team is developed along the way, that is fine;
but it is not the main purpose or goal of the program.
Being a "winner" in the true sense means more than just finishing first in a race; it is a personal attitude.
Through the competitive experience everyone can become a "winner" by striving towards individual goals and ultimately achieving some or all.
Being the "best" is not as important as trying your "best".
If we have done our job as a department in achieving our goals, what will be remembered by the swimmers who participated on the Roseville Swim Team will be much more than any First Place finishes or races.
We hope that years from today, the swimmers in the program will look back fondly at the fun they had at practices and meets, the special friends they made, the excitement of the meets and competition, and the successes and disappointments that were shared with fellow teammates, coaches and parents.
