Poolside Chat

January Edition

Happy New Year Sugarbears families!  I hope the holidays have been a time of joy for you and have created wonderful memories for you to carry with you.  For me, it's been a time of reflection and focus on what I want to accomplish in 2010.

I was so excited a few months ago to accept the nomination of President for our swim team.  Over the last few years as an active Sugarbears parent and Board member, I have grown to love the sport of swimming and, more importantly, love our team.  I believe we have great potential for our future.  It is that potential that has drawn me to accept the position.  I hope you’ll work with me this coming year in releasing that potential!

My message this month is all about communication.  I believe our team will operate at its best when everyone is up-to-speed on what's happening.  During the season, I plan to initiate some changes in our communication: both frequency and channels. By ensuring everyone is informed, I believe we can all work together for some great results!

My first request was to create a newsletter to have a direct line of communication open to families; hence the birth of the "Poolside Chat with Renee". I plan to write to you after every Board meeting (at least!) to help update all of you on the latest Sugarbears news.  I hope this communication (hopefully shorter in future publications!!) will be a source of knowledge and maybe even inspire some to help spread the word.

If you haven't yet signed up for our Sugarbears yahoo group, please do.  On our Sugarbears website, the right-hand side has an area for new families, "Welcome to the Team".  Under that header, there is a link to sign up for "Subscribe to Emails."  I'm happy to personally help you with signing up if you have any problems;  just drop me an email or give me a call.  All of my contact information is on the website.

Our website administrator, Mr. StinkyCheeseman, is also working finalizing our new website!  I've gotten a sneak peek and I'm EXCITED!  While I find our current website pretty easy to navigate, I think our new one will be even better.  He's also putting a new, fresh look on the front; we'll be a hip new team in 2010.  Keep an eye out for it!

I wish you all the best for the upcoming year.  I'll be back Poolside to chat with you again in a few weeks and we'll be talking vacant volunteer positions so remember us in your New Years resolutions!  J  Happy New Year to all of you!

Regards, Renee
Sugarbears Board President
