Age Group Goals

The coaches have developed team goals based on the information we received from the Values Questionaire. We are committed to providing each swimmer in each age group with a safe, fun and positive experience. We will continue to improve each season by responding to parent and swimmer's suggestions and feedback. The following is a list of Spring an Summer team goals, by age group.

6 and Unders
Spring Summer
Swimmers learn pool & team rules
Swimmers become familiar with coaching staff
Group swimmers w/ similar skill level
Emphasize correct kick
Swimmers learn to streamline
Introduce swimmers to all strokes
Develop and implement Buddy Program
Begin fine tuning strokes
Focus on improving diving & relay starts
Increase and improve Buddy Program
Swimmers begin to recognize stroke strengths &
areas needing improvement



7-8 Years
Spring Summer
Swimmers learn pool & team rules
Swimmers become familiar with coaching staff
Swimmers listen when coach is speaking
Learn all strokes & purpose of each drill
Use two hand touch when appropriate
Emphasis on kicking
Learn how to do flip-turns
Swimmers "fine tune" streamline
Develop and implement Buddy Program
Set individual swimming goals
Improve times & techniques for all strokes
Swimmers are aware of times for each stroke
Flip-turns are used in all practices
Swimmers undertand use of pace

Improving diving & relay starts
Begin reaching individual swimmer's goals




9-10 Years
Spring Summer
Swimmers learn pool & team rules
Introduce stretching & its importance
Swimmers work together as a group
Swimmers learn and recognize key terms
ie., IM=Individual Medley, 100 yds = 4 laps
Eryone attempting flip-turns and proper IM turns
Learn benefits of proper streamline
Emphasis on kicking
Swimmers learn and understand purpose of drills
Everyone learns how to read the clock for intervals
Set individual swimming goals
Learn stroke specialities
Swimmers have good sportsmanship
& cheer for one another
Each swimmer improves personal best
Perfect starts and turns
Learn step-up starts
Begin reaching individual swimmer's goals





11-18 Years
Spring Summer
Review pool & team rules
Understand necessity of stretching and its importance
Swimmers understand benefits of drills
associated with each stroke
Learn/Understand benefits of proper streamline
Focus on kicking
Swimmers learn racing & relay starts
Everyone knows how to do flip-turns
Swimmers are legal in all strokes
Swimmers improve level of conditioning
Everyone knows how to use the pace clock
Swimmers improve on their times from time trials
Swimmes know their times
Everyone has gained strength and
improved conditioning
Swimers are aware of cause and effect
of each practice (why we do what we do)
Understand and participate in Buddy Program
Begin reaching individual swimmer's goals
